In excess of 250 Detained in Charlotte as Immigration Enforcement Accelerates
In excess of 250 persons have been arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of continuing federal immigration control measures, according to official sources.

Charlotte marks the latest American city to face heightened federal deployment, following analogous operations in bigger metropolitan areas like Chicago and Los Angeles earlier this year. Administration representatives have claimed that those apprehended include criminal elements and gang members.

Official Stance
In a newly released declaration, a federal representative claimed that the initiative has resulted in the detention of "including the most threatening criminal illegal immigrants", comprising gang members.
Further persons taken into custody had been previously convicted for various crimes, including attacks against law enforcement officers, operating vehicles under influence, theft and tampering with government papers, according to the department.
Local Feedback
The city's chief executive, similarly a Democratic Party member, requested federal officials to operate with "consideration" for the city's standards. She also applauded those who participated in considerable groups on Saturday to protest the federal authority's operations in the city.

Federal officials have not disclosed how long the enforcement actions will last. Chicago's crackdown started in September and continues ongoing. Similar to other cities facing immigration enforcement, some migrants in Charlotte are remaining indoors due to fear about federal agents in the community, according to local media.
The top official mentioned he's tracking information that the initiative will move to Raleigh, another North Carolina municipality, next.
"Once again, I request federal officials to focus on violent criminals, not neighbors strolling along the street, attending places of worship, or putting up seasonal ornaments," he wrote.
