The Two Fatalities Revealed in the Providence Campus Incident as Law Enforcement Continue Search for Gunman.
The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the weekend's violent attack in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their killer continued following the freeing by local law enforcement of the only individual questioned in the case.
Honoring a Lost Student
The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.
Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also posted sympathies on social media, stating: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”
MukhammadAziz Umurzokov
The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the renowned school, according to relatives.
His name was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.
“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.
The Shooting Incident
Nine other people were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.
Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a search at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.
“A perpetrator remains free,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.
He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”
Public Fear
Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke fresh anxiety for our city”.
The shooter began shooting inside a classroom in the engineering building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm handgun, a authority told the news agency.
Law enforcement that entered the hotel found two firearms and two ammunition clips when the suspect was arrested, the news agency reported.
The Wounded Victims
